Powerful Therapies to Help You Heal from PTSD, Child Abuse, and Sexual Abuse

Sep 29

Healing can be difficult, especially if you have been through a traumatic event like PTSD and Child and Sexual Abuse. To help you move on, you need the appropriate kind of support and patience. You need scientifically proven and effective therapy procedures, which you may not get from attending weekly therapy sessions. That is where Intensive Trauma Therapy comes in.

At Intensive Therapy Retreats, we offer a unique, 3-5 day private mental health retreat that integrates three powerful therapeutic approaches – EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy. Each of these therapies is highly effective in treating PTSD, trauma, child abuse, and sexual abuse. However, when they are integrated into a private Mental Health Retreat, they can be even more powerful.

Here is a brief overview of our treatment methods:

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR is a powerful trauma-focused therapy that has been shown to be highly effective in treating PTSD, depression, anxiety, panic disorder, phobias, and bipolar disorders. During an EMDR session, clients are asked to recall a traumatic event while simultaneously engaging in some form of bilateral stimulation, such as eye movement, tapping, or auditory stimulation. This process helps to reprocess the traumatizing event, allowing the client to move past the event and into a more healed state.

Internal Family Systems therapy

Internal Family Systems therapy, or IFS, focuses on helping individuals heal the parts of themselves that have been wounded by trauma, or various forms of abuse and anxiety. It is based on the belief that we all have an “inner family” of parts, each of which has its unique perspective and role. When we experience trauma, certain parts of our inner family can become “wounded” or broken into parts. During our Intensive Therapy, our aim is to help clients heal their wounded parts and develop a more compassionate relationship with their protectors.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy

ART is a relatively new therapy showing great promise in treating PTSD and other trauma-related disorders. ART uses “imaginal exposure” to help clients process and heal from trauma through Mental Health Getaway. During visual exposure, clients are asked to recall a traumatic event while simultaneously engaging in some form of bilateral stimulation, such as rapid eye movement, tapping, or auditory stimulation. This process helps to reprocess the traumatizing event, allowing the client to move past the event and into a more healed state. This healed state is maintained for at least 4 months after the conclusion of Trauma Recovery Retreat.
